Banner Elk, NC: Holly + Tyler's Fun Summer Engagement Session in Downtown Banner Elk

Holly and Tyler are high school sweethearts and such a fun couple! They’re getting married this year at the Camp at Buffalo Mountain in Johnson City and I couldn’t be more excited for their day!

These two call themselves “weekend warriors,” and love taking weekend trips to the mountains to explore and get away for a few days! One of their favorite places to visit is downtown Banner Elk, North Carolina, as it’s just a hop and skip over the TN/NC border and just far enough to get away for a few days.

When Holly told me about their trips, I figured it would be the best place to take their engagement photos! When coming up with a location for engagement sessions, I always recommend that a couple choose a spot that’s special to them and not just someplace scenic. I mean, those always make great places for photos, but I love incorporating their story into the photos and giving them memories that they can look back on!

For their session, we started in Banner Elk and explored the quaint shops and cute sidewalks and alleys! I definitely made a list of restaurants that my husband and I need to come back and try out— it all smelled heavenly! We then drove over to the Blue Ridge Parkway and ended their session with a mountain sunset.

Congratulations, Holly and Tyler! I cannot wait for your wedding in June!
