I first met Joe and Caroline at the NC Arboretum in March for their engagement session and I just knew their wedding day on Roan Mountain would be amazing (and I was right)! These two became husband and wife on the top of the balds right as Summer started to fade into Fall. I love being able to see Roan go through the seasons-- each time I go, the landscape and colors are always different, and always beautiful.
Caroline and Joe had planned to have their adventurous wedding on the first Wednesday in September, but Mother Nature decided differently! Hurricane Harvey had hit Texas late August and missed us, but Hurricane Irma developed right after and was headed towards the Southeast. Luckily, since Caroline and Joe's family, friends, and vendors were so flexible, they moved their intimate wedding to Tuesday to avoid the rain!
When we arrived at Carver's Gap, we knew we still had the threat of afternoon showers- the wind was blowing and the sun kept peeking in and out of the clouds. Once we hiked up to the balds, we tucked behind a group of trees to shield Caroline and Joe from the wind as they said their vows! After their first kiss as husband and wife, they were greeted by their friends and family, and their super handsome pup, Bandit. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the mountain, all the while keeping an eye out for rain while taking bride and groom portraits! We even had some low traveling clouds that came across the balds and made for some magical fog.
Caroline and Joe - thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your beautiful wedding day! I'm so glad that we could beat the rain, wind, and bees and celebrate your marriage together! Cheers to your next biggest adventure!
Huge thanks to all of Joe & Caroline's vendors for making their day amazing!
