Roan Mountain, TN: Zach + Daisy's Sunset Engagement Session on Round Bald

I just ADORE these two! Zach and Daisy met each other in high school in Florida and have been together ever since! They currently live in Alabama where Zach is stationed as an Apache helicopter pilot in the Army. Freaking awesome, right?

When Daisy contacted me about wedding photography and told me that they were getting married in Butler, I wondered just how in the world they found and chose Northeast Tennessee to say, "I Do". She then told me the story of how Zach proposed and it all came together! Zach's family owns a cabin close to Elizabethton/Butler where they like to spend holidays together. A few years ago, Zach had given a piece of jewelry to Daisy (his first jewelry gift) at a spot close to the cabin. For the proposal, Zach took Daisy back to this same place, where he happens to also get cell service. Daisy told me that Zach pretended to take a phone call, so Daisy turned her back. When she turned around to check on him, he was on one knee proposing!

For Daisy and Zach's engagement session, Daisy asked if we could hike up Roan and if they could bring their dog, Dixie, along. You guys already know by now that dogs and mountains are two of my favorite things and especially spending time with my couples, so it wasn't tough for me to say, "Of course!" We spent one of the last warm evenings on top of Roan with Zach, Daisy, and Dixie, and had a great time laughing all the way to sunset.

My good friend and fellow photographer, Jeremy Gouge, was also able to come along for the hike! He will be shooting their wedding with me so I thought it would be great for him to meet the couple ahead of time! He also was able to snag some sweet behind-the-scenes shots for me, which are included at the bottom of the blog. Thanks, Jeremy!

Zach and Daisy - your smiles and laughter are seriously contagious! It is truly evident how perfect you two are for each other! I can't wait to photograph your wedding this month!

A few of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from Jeremy Gouge!
