Kinzie and Zack’s wedding day was nothing short of adventurous!

When I first met up with Zack and Kinzie to chat about their wedding day last November, the plan was quite different! They had originally booked a venue in Sevierville and had hoped to get married in September. As the COVID-19 pandemic became more and more serious, they decided to move their wedding day forward and brought it closer to home to make it easier for their closest family and friends to attend. With this change in plans, they had to basically re-plan a whole wedding in just a few short months! It seems almost unimaginable, but everything fell into place just perfectly— almost as if it were meant to be this way the whole time.

Zack and Kinzie finally became husband and wife on a balmy July day at one of my favorite venues here in Johnson City— The Side Porch! When my second shooter, Sam, and I arrived, it was certainly hot and humid but the forecast had appeared clear. As we entered the bridal suite, Kinzie and her bridesmaids were dancing to music and enjoying mimosas as they were getting ready. After everyone was ready and photos with the bridal party had been taken, Kinzie and Zack had a super sweet first look in the forest where they shared private vows. I’ll always be amazed (and honored) that us photographers are invited to be a part of such an intimate part of the day.

After the first look and some portraits in the forest, we then headed back to the barn to prepare for the ceremony but were met with a huge, dark, cloud looming over the venue. Rain drops started falling about 10 minutes before the ceremony and we all started looking at our weather apps hoping it would pass over. Unfortunately, the summer thunderstorm was here to stay and we all rushed to get the chairs inside the barn. The Side Porch ladies spared no time in getting the ceremony set up indoors and within minutes, we were ready to go! The rain pounded the tin roof of the barn so hard that we could barely hear the officiant, Kinzie, and Zack, but they didn’t let that keep them from smiling the whole time through the ceremony. The officiant announced Zack and Kinzie as husband and wife and the rain started to subside! We were able to grab some portraits outside afterward and then dance the night away in the barn.

Zack and Kinzie— your wedding day may have been quite adventurous, but you two have such an amazing story to tell. I truly believe that everything was perfect and was exactly how it was meant to be! I am so excited for you two and wish you the best in your future adventures together!

Big thanks to all of Kinzie and Zack’s vendors who made their day amazing!
