Goodbye, 2018- hello, 2019!

Well, y’all! Another year has come and past and I am just in utter awe of all of the adventures from this past year! I am so incredibly grateful for all of the couples that I’ve been able to meet and capture on such a special day, and everyone who has supported me, collaborated with me, and helped make this year downright amazing. Because of all of you, I get to do what I love every day and grateful only covers the surface!

As per end-of-year tradition, it’s time to view the best images of 2018! I have loved sitting down at the end of each year to put together my favorite images captured during each session or wedding. You can see last year’s year-in-review blog here: 2017 year-in-review. I love seeing everything together and catching subtle threads of connection in all my work. This year, you can tell that I LOVE green and my favorite places are mountains, forests, lakes, fields and the outdoors in general (no surprise there)! I’m also pretty obsessed with christmas lights/patio lights at receptions! I was able to shoot my first (and only) home birth, hiked up Roan Mountain 6 times, and had to learn to embrace and dance in the rain more times than not. This has been the rainiest year that I think I’ve ever had in my life, but hey- have to make lemonade with the lemons the weather gives you!

My word of the year for 2018 was, “fearless,” as I jumped head-first into adventurous weddings and elopements full time. Last year, from encouragement from friends and a feeling deep in my bones (as cheesy as it sounds)— I finally felt at home with my photography, my love for the outdoors, and bringing them together. This job is not just a job to me— it’s my passion. Through life and losing people and places that mean so much to me, I’ve realized that the next best thing that we have to remember them are photographs. Our memories may fade in our minds, but the photographs bring back that feeling that we have in our hearts.

As we close out 2018, I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for an incredible year and cheers to the next! May it be filled with love, laughter, new adventures and trails to be discovered! Cheers!
