It feels like yesterday that I met up with Lexie and John Michael for their engagement session at Grayson Highlands! I remember getting out of my truck and walking over to their car to say hello, as the winds whipped across my face and the fog hid the trail up to the rocks. After apologizing for the whacky weather, they just gave me the biggest smiles, put on their coats and told me that they were down for anything! After their session, I just knew that these two not only had such adventurous spirits, but were also completely and utterly meant for each other.
Lexie and John Michael chose to get married on top of Round Bald on Roan Mountain, which (as you all know) has a piece of my heart. After two super sweet first looks (one with John Michael, and one with Lexie's dad), Lexie hiked up to the balds with her father in true adventurous bride fashion- in her wedding dress and Chacos! Before we got to the trailhead, Lexie and I both looked at our feet and noticed that we were wearing the same Chacos! Same color AND style! Talk about an awesome bride and a girl after my own heart!
Their friends and families made a semi-circle overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains. As the bridesmaids made their way down the "aisle," also known as the trail, their families moved closer to complete the semi circle. I loved that not only were their friends and siblings in the bridal party but that their families surrounded them as an extension, and were just as much a part of their big day as the bridal party. After their first kiss as husband and wife, Lexie and John Michael gave each other a huge high five, followed by a hug! We then took our time exploring the mountain in our Chacos for portraits and tried to stay warm! Even though it was June, the evening had turned chilly! As the sun started to set we made our way down the mountain to head to their small reception at one of the state park's pavilions. It was truly a perfect Summer evening for an intimate wedding.
John Michael and Lexie- thank you both so much for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day. I honestly had to hold back my own tears during your first looks and vows! I am so happy for you two and wish you a lifetime of love, climbing, and adventure!
A huge thanks to all of Lexie & John Michael's vendors for making their day amazing!
